Danny Chadwick
2012 Film Project

I’ve been an amateur film maker for about five years now. I’ve written, produced, directed or acted in more than two dozen short films and two feature films. Honesty, most of it isn’t exactly professional quality. There are a few gems in there.

My film plans for this year include finishing a producing class I’m taking from Richard Dutcher. (The director of indie films such as God’s Army, Brigham City and Evil Angel) The class project is to produce a feature film and get distribution. So that’s going to take up a lot of my time.

I want to create one last short film before I tackle the director’s chair in a feature film. I’m thinking a 4 - 8 minute piece that I’ll shoot in the late spring/early summer. I don’t have a solid idea yet, but I know that I want it to be bold, original, visually pleasing and leave the audience feeling uplifted.

Too many short independent films are poorly acted, lit, written, edited and quite often they leave the audience feeling bored. That is if the audience watches the film to the end. The worst shorts end with the main character blowing his brains our of bleeding to death in a  bathtub after he’s slashed his wrists with a broken record or some dumb thing like that.

The film project I tackle this year, I want to make a serious run in the film festivals. I long ago gave up the dream of Sundance. However, I will submit whatever I end up doing to that festival. It would be just be so convenient considering I live about an hour away from Park City.

So, that’s the goal. Short film 4 - 8 minutes, high quality, make the rounds in festivals around the world. I think I can do that.

My buddy Brandon and I have been making films for about 5 years now. This is his director’s reel.
